The common question that clients interested in locs ask, “How long will it take for my hair to lock?”. It can take 3 months to a year to lock depending upon your hair texture, products, condition of the hair, and diet. Locking is a slow process and this process requires patience. The less time that you spend watching your locs, the length will appear before you know it. Locks are like children that eventually develop into mature adults. The locking process has phases from baby locs to mature. Enjoy the locking process from the baby loc stage with the frizzes to the smoother mature locs with a variety of styles. The journey can be beautiful if you allow the locking process to take its natural course.
Loc Maintenance and Style by Natasha
Currently my hair is relaxed but, I’m interested in growing locs. Is there a healthy way to begin locs without cutting off all of my hair (at least cutting it off all at once)? I do not feel comfortable with hair shorter than the top tips of my ears.

Thanks for the information about your product.
I agree with Natasha. My personal realistic experience was frustration in the beginning. I like my hair neat, so when I would have my locs maintenanced and they still looked untouched, I felt like I didn’t want them. A sister encouraged me to hang in there, and I did. After 4 months, my locs were perfect to me. So as mentioned before, patience should be cultivated before starting to loc your hair. Also, doing your own research in regards to what products to use and technique is very helpful. There are many ways to start your locs. I am a natural hair care artist and you can contact me at Na Klectic Natural Hair Salon if you have any additional questions. Take care of your crowns and be blessed.
