Family,

Greetings, Na-Klectic Family. We are pleased to announce that we were participating vendors in the DC Love, Locs, and Hair Expo on April 18, 2009 and the Baltimore Natural Hair Care Expo on April 25th and April 26, 2009. Thank you for your support. We are offering hair classes in the late summer. Please call or email us for more information in June about the classes. In addition, we are offering new products. I want to announce that Na’Klectic will offer three new oils by Herbalistics in June. The new oils are Dry Scalp Remedy, Sweet Orange, and Aloe Vera & Lemongrass. The dry scalp oil contains peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree oil. This product is great for clients with a dry or itchy scalp. In addition, we are introducing Lemongrass and Aloe Vera for the summer. The new scents for 2009 will sell fast. Please place an order. Also, we are offering larger sizes for salons and oil lovers. The sizes of oils being offered include 4ozs, 16 ozs, and 32 ozs. We are excited by the new changes to the salon and new beginnings. We are here for our clients. We thank all of our clients for being part of the Na’Klectic Family.

In this issue, I want to direct the focus on beauty. Society defines beauty by the color of our skin, our eyes, our shape, and our appearance. However, true beauty is not beauty created by facial and body alterations or based upon cosmetics, clothing etc. Beauty is a gift from God. Society’s definition of beauty has created an inferno of self hatred. I recognize the destruction of our spirit in the beauty industry. A large segment of Black society, believes that the lighter complexion is better and that straighter and longer hair is more acceptable. We are destroying each other… Beauty is not the texture of your hair or the color of your eyes. True beauty is defined by your spirit, and the depth of your heart and soul. In addition, beauty is the essence of YOU. Embrace the gifts that God has given to you. Hair does not define you. You define your hair. Please allow your true beauty to capture others.

Please do not allow the deception of past slave masters, ads, magazines, and television shows to alter your spirit. The chains and shackles that were once used to prevent us from freedom are used today psychologically. We are mentally bonded. Free yourself, free your community, and free our people…. I encourage you again to define you. Please ask yourself these following questions. Who are you? Do you allow society, your family, and friends to define you? Are you defining yourself by your standards of beauty or society’s? When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Are pleased with how you look? Do you want to change your lips, eyes, or hair texture? If so, why? Please take a moment everyday to look in the mirror and tell yourself how beautiful you are and how beautiful you will always be in the world. Love God first but love yourself!
